The legal research function is a critical one for law firms and legal departments.
And – increasingly – it’s an area being augmented by automation. Automatizing legal research provides many benefits. It enables lawyers to sift through large amounts of information; underpins predictive, data driven insights and enables better, faster and cost efficient responsiveness to client needs. It also eliminates repetitive tasks and allows lawyers to focus on what they do best: provide impactful legal advice. Yet increasing reliance on automation legal research can be problematic. Areas of concern include increased liability risks, algorithmic bias and sectoral mistrust of outputs.
